Nana Kiera ICHIKAWA

​

Nana Kiera Ichikawa is a playwright and translator currently based in Tokyo. Her plays explore themes such as Asian womanhood, sexuality, and discrimination, which she writes drawing on her seven years of experience living in Tanzania and Pakistan. Her plays have been read and produced internationally, where among 350 submissions, “The Wind” was selected to be featured as a part of the official program at the 12th Women Playwrights International Conference. As a translator, she has translated "Bad Roads" by Natal'ya Vorozhbit, originally translated by Sasha Dugdale, and "Rotterdam" by Jon Brittain for their Japanese premieres. She holds a BA in Creative Writing with a minor in Theatre from Waseda University, class of 2018. She holds a BA from Waseda University class of 2018, with a major in Creative Writing and minor in Theatre.

劇作家、翻訳家。幼少期をタンザニア、パキスタンで過ごしたことを機に、性・差別・暴力をテーマに創作活動を行う。代表作に女性性器切除を取り上げた『風-the Wind-』ナイジェリアの赤ちゃん工場事件から着想した『人魚の瞳、海の青』​、フランク・ヴェデキントの『春のめざめ』を現代に翻案した『東京版 春のめざめ』など。2021年『風-the Wind-』が第12回国際女性劇作家会議の公式プログラムに選出。近年は、​​英米戯曲・ミュージカルの翻訳家としても活動。近年の翻訳作品にミュージカル『Once』『You Bury Me』『ロッテルダム』『Bad Roads』など。
